Welcome to

Bangor-on-Dee Village Hall

About us:

Celebrating more than 50 years

Bangor on Dee Village Hall, which is a Registered Charity and belongs to the village residents, is celebrating over 50 years of providing a community space for a variety of social activities, including Exercise Classes, Pilates, Zumba Gold, Yoga, Craft & Chat, Sit & Sew, Young Wives and Art groups. It also accommodates coffee mornings, meetings, exhibitions, parties and celebrations for all ages and occasions, and provides a warm space during the winter months.

All this has been achieved through the efforts and dedication of a small number of volunteers, trustees and/or members of the management committee, who are grateful to all the leaders of the various groups and organisations for their continued support and who recognise the effort that goes into providing the facilities for these activities. There is also widespread praise from all the users, be they village residents or visitors from further afield, for what the hall offers.

The Management Committee and Trustees have worked tirelessly to keep the Hall maintained and fit for purpose – and to hopefully future proof the facilities for the next fifty years. However, they are more than aware that they themselves will not be able to continue for the next fifty years and would like to welcome some new blood into the running and maintaining of the hall.

If you have a skill or talent, which you think would enhance the running of the village hall, particularly if you  are familiar with contemporary technology, or would simply like to help in securing the hall’s future, please see the other sections of the Website for more information or email Andy Powick, Chair of the Management Committee, a.powick257@btinternet.com.

Built in 1747 as an Endowed School and extended in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, its interior has undergone a major transformation since 2008. Its primary function is to provide a modern amenity for use by the residents of Bangor-on-Dee and the surrounding area. It is owned, on behalf of the residents, by a registered charity – Bangor Isycoed Village Institute and managed by a Village Hall Management Committee (VHMC).

Current regular activities include exercise classes, art and craft groups, society meetings and social gatherings.

Full details of all activities are given in the Activities section.

The Hall is also available for Private Hire and being within 100 metres of the Church is ideal for gatherings after christenings, small weddings and funerals. It is also a perfect venue for families and friends to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions and for small business meetings and presentations. The well-equipped kitchen is often used by outside caterers.

The Hall is very popular for younger children’s parties as it has a number of small tables and chairs.
