The Village Hall lottery was started in 1973 to provide funding for the first extension to the Hall and it also provided financial support for the initial development of the Sports Field. Since then, it has continued to make a significant contribution to the cost of upgrading the Hall and has enabled us to build up reserves to ensure that the future of the Hall is not at risk from major unplanned repairs or the sort of loss of revenue we have just experienced.
The Lottery year runs from April to March and in the year ended March 2025 there were 571 pairs of numbers sold. Many households have more than 1 pair of numbers and very many households have been lottery members since 1973 and one of today’s collectors was also there at the start!
The net income for the 2024 – 2025 year was £3558 of which £1800 was distributed as prizes.
There are twelve draws during the year which are normally carried out at the VHMC monthly meetings.
In the 24/25 year the prizes in draws 3, 6 and 12 was 1 @ £100 1 @ £60, 1 @ £40 and 1 @ £30
The prizes in draw 9 (December) was 1@ £200, 1 @ £100, 1 @ £50 and 1 @ £40
The prizes in the other 8 draws was 1 @ £30 and 3 @ £20.
The results of each draw will appear in this Website News section as well as in the Middle Shop window, on the Village Hall notice board and on the village Facebook page
The £6.00 annual payment for each pair of numbers is collected in February or March, if you’re new to the village the collector for your area will call to see if you would like to join at this time.
